Nanoporous metallic surfaces for sustained drug release

Our goal is to determine whether the 3-dimensional interconnected porosity as well as the physicochemical properties of nanoporous surfaces generated by oxidative nanopatterning can be exploited, respectively, to store significant amount of active agents and control their elution. To this end, we have quantified the loading capacity and elution kinetics with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and vancomycin, selectively chosen to reflect commonly used model compounds. (Read more)
