
About
Dr. Fabio Variola received his B.Eng. and M. A. Sc. in Materials Engineering from the University of Trieste in 2004. In 2009, he completed a joint doctoral program in Materials Science at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique-Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications (INRS-ÉMT) and Université de Montréal. He then carried out postdoctoral training at the Laboratory for the Study of Calcified Tissues and Biomaterials. In July 2010, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa as Assistant Professor.
Dr. Variola's research interests emcompass biomaterials and surface science, nanotechnology, nanomedicine, IR and Raman spectroscopy and biophysics.
